Thumb Cellular is now able to activate select mobile devices using eSIM technology.
What is an eSIM?
An eSIM is a digital SIM that eliminates the need for a physical SIM card. With eSIM, you can quickly and easily transfer an existing cellular plan or get a new cellular plan, all digitally. You can even store multiple eSIMs on the same device and use two phone numbers at the same time. And it’s more secure – someone can’t remove the physical SIM card if your device is lost or stolen. In just a few simple steps, you are ready to make calls, send messages, and browse the web.
Which devices support eSIM?
Apple: iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, and all newer models running the current version of iOS.
Samsung: Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy Note20, Galaxy Z Flip4, and all newer models.
How do I activate a Thumb Cellular eSIM on my device?
Activating an eSIM on a compatible device is easy. For the time being, setup of an eSIM will be very similar to setting up a traditional SIM card. You will need to visit your local Thumb Cellular location and our Customer Care Team will handle it for you!

How do I transfer my phone number to a new eSIM-capable device?
You will need to visit your local Thumb Cellular location and our Customer Care Team will handle it for you!
How do I get an eSIM if I am not purchasing my device from Thumb Cellular?
You will need to visit your local Thumb Cellular location and our Customer Care Team will assist you!
What should I do if my device is lost or stolen with an active eSIM?
If your device with an active eSIM is lost or stolen, please contact Thumb Cellular at 800-443-5057 or visit one of our locations in Bad Axe, Caro, Pigeon or Sandusky.
What happens to my cellular plan if I erase my eSIM?
If you delete your eSIM, your cellular plan has not been cancelled.
Can I still use my Thumb Cellular eSIM if I travel internationally?
Yes! If you’re already using an eSIM, it’s as simple as contacting Thumb Cellular at 1-800-443-5057 and having international roaming enabled. If you’re using an eSIM for the first time, contact us ahead of traveling out of the country to make sure additional steps are not needed.
If I am traveling to the United States from abroad, can I download a local eSIM on Thumb Cellular’s network?

What is Dual SIM?
Dual SIM allows users to use two phone numbers at the same time. For example, you can use one number for business and another number for personal. Or you can add a local data plan when you travel outside of the country or region. You can learn more about Dual SIM with an eSIM at the links below.
